Small Groups at Providence Church
Every Lord’s Day, we gather to worship and hear the Word of God preached. This is the primary way that the Lord guides and teaches us. Worshiping with other Christians every Sunday is incredibly important for spiritual growth.
But the early church also grew the rest of the week: “And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers” (Acts 2:42). At Providence Church, we live this out in three ways: we meet weekly in our homes for fellowship, we intentionally pursue discipleship relationships, and we participate in small groups.
Our small groups exist to help you connect with others who share your faith and so you can learn more about the Scriptures. We have three different types of small groups. Take a look below to learn more about each one. If you have any questions about our small groups, email Pastor LJ Decker at lj@providencechurchkaty.org.

First Principles
First Principles Groups are for newcomers to Providence Church. In these groups, participants study a curriculum our elders developed based on our confession of faith. First Principles Groups run from September to May. Registration is open in August of each year. These are gendered groups (men meet with men, women with women), and meet at various times and places around Katy.
Second Studies
Once a participant successfully completes a First Principles Group, they are invited to join a Second Studies Group. These groups focus on books of the Bible. They are designed to be a survey study that makes life applications along the way. Like First Principles Groups, Second Studies Groups are gendered and run from September to May. Registration is also in August for these groups.
Spring Small Group
We also offer a co-ed Spring Small Group which runs from February to May. These groups allow people to experience a small group while they wait to register for a First Principles group in the fall. This spring our groups are studying R. C. Sproul’s book, “The Holiness of God.” Registration is closed for Spring Small Groups right now, but will reopen in January.
